Stealth Camera WXV Cellular Trail Cameras
Everyone is looking for the next best thing when it comes to trail cameras. There is tons of different brands and manufacturers here in 2019. Which one do you choose? Lets talk about it…
I have Been using trail cameras for a very very very long time. Even back in the day with the 35 MM film that my dad had to take me to get developed as a kid. When i say i have used every brand i have used every brand. I run about 20 trail cameras daily through out the year at any given time. A lot of companies that made trail cameras back in the day are not even around anymore.
*Before we get into stealth cameras i just want to say they are a electronic device and can fail. Anything electronic eventually will fail so i’m not saying these wont fail at all. I am simply sharing my experience with them*
I was introduced to stealth cameras back in February at the great american outdoors show. We were set up in the antler grow booth Across from them. I simply went over and checked them out. When i saw the video and audio quality that the DS4K camera put out I was sold. Now i was already using trail cameras at that time as mentioned above. I wanted higher quality ones for all the youtube videos i make to use for B roll to help explain certain situations and show how deer are traveling.
I bought My very first DS4K at that show and started using it right away. The DS4k is not a cellular camera but that’s how i fell in love with the brand. I will attach some video clips from that camera in case you are interested in them.
After buying the DS4K i had to buy the cellular models. I have 5 total of the Wxv models that have been in the woods since may. They are fairly easy to activate in under 10 minutes. They do come with sim cards and everything is activated on the web. So there’s no need to drive anyplace to purchase sim cards or plans. The cool thing about the free stealth cam app is it has a lot of settings to choose from including the MP of the pictures you want transferred to the app. They range from 4Mp to 22Mp. Below are some screen shots from the app.
Now the thing i want to point out that is confusing for most folks is the plans and service. The stealth cams come in verizon models and AT&T models. What you want to do is buy the model with the service that would be best for the area you want to use it in. If you have better verizon service at your hunt camp then buy the verizon one. The other part is your actual cell phone. The phone service you have does not matter at all. You can have service with sprint but use the AT&T model stealth cam. It doesn’t matter what phone service you have at all. As long as you can download apps on your phone you are good to go.
Battery life is pretty good. I would say its comparable to other brands. Plans range from $5 to about $20 which is also about the same as other brands. What i enjoy the most from these cellular cameras is the wide variety of options to adjust from the app and the high quality pictures they send directly to the app. I have used other brands and the transferred pictures are horrible. I will attach some pictures that i saved directly from the app itself.
So in summary i believe these are amazing trail cameras. Not only are the standard trail cameras amazing. The cellular ones take it to the next level.
See ya on the next one!
