How To Grow Bigger Bucks
The right location! Hard pill to swallow. If you are in a location where your property is boarded by other deer hunters that are shooting everything they see your hard work will have little reward. Everyone needs to be on the same page (in general)
Having high quality soil. This means doing soil samples and working to improve it. The soil is the base of healthy deer. The nutrients in the soil give the plants nutrition which is then given to the deer when they consume the plant. The healthier the soil the bigger the deer.
A high quality year round food plot program grown in that high quality soil you have been working on.
Having the patience of giving the deer birthdays & being ok eating tag soup for a couple years.
Not pressuring the deer to the point you push them off to the neighbors and they shoot them all.
Setting a realistic goal for your quality of deer in the area you are deer hunting. Each area will produce a different quality buck depending on quality of food and genetics.
Shoot me a email below to discuss your goals and what you want to achieve out of your deer hunting property. We can also discuss more details over the phone with a free 30 minute phone consultation to see if i can help you the way you want.
Land management is a crucial part of maintaining and enhancing a piece of property. We all want to see wildlife not only survive but to also thrive. By enhancing natural browse and creating food plots we can help attract and grow bigger deer and turkeys.
If you are looking for any kind of land management services/consulting work feel free to reach out to discuss. We Can go over food plot placement, land management consulting, planting food plots, brush hog mowing, tree stand placement, soil health, trail camera placement, travel corridor’s, hinge cutting and entry and exit. We can work with your budget and goals to help you reach and maintain your dream deer hunting property.
When designing a deer hunting property its important to be able to access all stands without spooking deer. A lot of times we enhance every inch of the parcel that there is no room left over to get around the property. We need to be able to access stands no matter if its morning or evening hunting. By placing food and cover in the correct areas and connecting them with travel corridors we tell the deer where to move. Everyone wants to kill the big Iowa bucks but that all depends on the area. You have to have realistic goals from the start to finish.
What we offer
Bedding areas- Bedding areas is not! i repeat not needed on all properties. Depending on the size of the parcel and how it lays out bedding may not be needed. We do not follow the hype of every land manager pushing the idea of having to have hinge cuts in order to have deer on your land.
Travel corridors- Travel routes are a important part of the plan when designing a hunting property. Sometimes its about enhancing what is there and sometimes its about making new ones that connect bedding to feeding or feeding to feeding.
Food plot placement- Food plot placement is key because without entry and exit a food plot could make the property worse!
On site property visits- We go over everything I would do to set up my own property. We meet early am to discuss your goals then walk every part of your property and answer what questions you may have. Then we sit down and talk about food plots, stand placement, trail cameras, soil health and so on.
Bush hog mowing- Sometimes bush hogging is a great way to maintain and or clear new areas.
Trail cam placement- Setting trail cameras is also a important part of pattering deer and getting a inventory of how things are progressing.
Tree stand placement- When picking stand locations its important to know how to enter and exit that stand location. the stands success is 100 percent about that.
Soil health reports- we can take soil samples and go over the results and explain how to fix it overtime.
Entry & Exit- entry and exit is key when designing a deer hunting property. Its not so much what matters in the off season its how to approach it during hunting season.
Mapping- At the end of the day you will have a custom map that we discuss in detail together to make sure all your questions are answered.
-Pricing for habitat services-
On site property visits-
Starting cost is $1850 a day for 100 acres or less plus travel. Properties that are larger then 100 acres may require an additional day depending how the property is laid out. If additional days are required the extra days will be reduced to $1250.
Hinge cutting, travel corridor creation & TSI work-
We can do the work for you. Sometimes it will be cheaper to set this up ahead of time before the consult to save money on making a second trip back.
Cost is $1250 a day plus travel. This would include creating travel corridors, designing bedding areas, hinge cutting and various other habitat projects. We can also do skid steer work clearing out plots and helping to create bedding areas. “customer would be required to provide skid steer”
